Where the river meets the city, space becomes fluid, shifting with the people who inhabit it

Located on the south side of New Orleans, on an abandoned wharf beyond the flood walls that once served as a ferry station, the design reactivates the site through movable shading elements mounted on rails. These lightweight components can be rotated 360 degrees, allowing visitors to configure the space freely, creating personal zones for gathering, resting, or simply enjoying the waterfront.
By giving users the ability to shape their own environment, the intervention transforms the wharf into a flexible, community-driven public space. It serves as an exploration of adaptability in architecture and how design can empower people to engage directly with their surroundings.
